As mentioned in our previous articles, Samsung, Huawei and Oppo are reportedly working to launch world’s foldable smartphone before the year is out. As compared to Samsung and Oppo, Huawei seems to release its foldable device quickly perhaps in November or December of 2018. Every news and rumour aside, we have just come across that Xiaomi has joined that race and begun working on its own foldable smartphone at highly competitive rates.
The Korean-language outlet (ET News) has reported that Xiaomi is working with suppliers to assemble components related to a foldable smartphone. Foldable displays and Hinges both are 2 of the key elements in this arena. So, the chances are Xiaomi alongside Oppo will chase up these components among others.
ET News in its report further says that Xiaomi is working on a fold-out design, as different to Samsung and Huawei’s supposed in-folding design. However, things are pretty blurred and it’s undecided what kind of design Oppo will go for.
There is nothing to be surprised about hearing that Oppo is also working on a foldable smartphone, but rather what really matters is it’s going to be amazingly cheaper as compared to its competitors. After all, Xiaomi stands out by offering band for your buck compared to competitors. To be honest, it’s prompt to say anything, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it lands with a cheaper price tag.
Before ending the story, it seems like 2019 is shaping up to be the year of a foldable smartphone with at least 4 major releases. If currently rumours turn out to be true, this would increase a total of six thanks to LG as well as Motorola. However, each smartphone is expected to be available across the globe in limited quantities only.
So, are you one of those waiting for foldable smartphone desperately? Which brand would you go for? Let us know down in the comments.
