Xiaomi is indeed leading the smartphone market in China, India, and nearest countries with its gorgeously designed and most-appealing latest Redmi series and interestingly, Xiaomi keeps pushing.
The latest and innovative technology that Xiaomi is looking to add into their mid-rangers is an on-screen fingerprint scanner which is already on par with a plethora of smartphones from other brands i.e. Samsung and Huawei.
The recent report from XDA-Developers has indicated that Xiaomi is working on three smartphones with FOD technology (on-screen fingerprint scanner) – two of them with codenames suggesting Android One. They are expected to be Xiaomi Mi A3 and Mi A3 Lite and one of their Chinese versions.
These upcoming Xiaomi’s three smartphones are condemned “Pyxis”, “Bamboo_Sprout” and “Cosmos_Sprout” – with Sprout Suffix in the handsets on Android One program. The third one lacks it which means it is going to be a successor of Xiaomi Mi 7X or Mi 6X (just an educated guess).
The on-screen fingerprint scanner is no longer an appealing feature and importantly it’s not that expensive anymore. The Chinese biggest companies such as Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and giant Samsung have already added that technology into their smartphones. It means we will be seeing an Optical Scanner underneath an OLED screen on a Redmi smartphone in a couple of days.
As of now, on-screen fingerprint technology is on par with Xiaomi’s Mi 8 and Mi 9 and its super-powerful gaming smartphone Xiaomi Black Shark 2.
