Samsung Introduces new Ultra-Slim 20MP Image Sensor for Full-Screen Display Devices

Samsung has now launched its smallest high-resolution image sensor named ISOCELL Slim 3T2 for full-screen handsets. This ISOCELL is industry’s most compact image sensor at 1/3.4 inches and gives 20MP resolution for both back and front cameras for low-end slim handsets.

Samsung explained that smartphones with a screen featuring as “hole in the display” or “notch design” front-facing image sensor need to minimize their actual size without getting compromised on quality. That’s the reason 3T2 image sensor has developed which fits into a small module. Hence, it’s making a lot more room for the screen.

Well, this ISOCELL Slim 3T2 isn’t only for the front-facing camera, but also appropriate for the telephoto solution in the rear-facing.

According to Samsung,

“The small size of the image sensor also reduces the height of the tele-camera module by around seven percent when compared to Samsung’s 1/3-inch 20Mp image sensor, allowing more elegant smartphone designs”.

Samsung said that it offers marvelous clarity and detail. Also, it helps the sensor to capture and absorb more details for accurate reproduction. The image sensor takes vivid, bright and sharp images in low-light settings. As compared to a 13MP sensor, the 20MP 3T2 retains 60% higher effective resolution at 10X digital zoom. The ISOCELL Slim 3T2 is most likely to go into mass production before March 2019 ends.
