It’s been a week or two since we have been hearing about Samsung Galaxy A8s as it is tipped as Samsung first smartphone to house a new Infinity-O display. That is one of the many displays Samsung has been working on and it’s a lot more unique as it’s coming with a cutout for a selfie camera which hasn’t yet seen from any smartphone brand.
A couple of days back, a bunch of renders of Samsung Galaxy A8s surfaced that indicates it’s coming with new Infinity-O display and a live image of the alleged screen protector is available in which we can have up-close look at the cutout.

Where did the leaks come from? It came from tipster Ice Universe on Twitter and according to that, there is around cutout on the top left corner of the smartphone where the selfie camera will be mounted under the panel.
Basically, the idea behind cutout is to remove a wide or waterdrop-like notch so the top bezel is almost non-existent. It’s been rumored that Samsung is currently working on Infinity-V and Infinity-U display which look similar to Notch.
The cutout made by Samsung means the display will have to work around FaceTime sensor – so we’re yet to see if this is less distracting or less intrusive as compared to having a notch. Very much unlike the notch, one can hide from settings, the cutout can’t be hidden.
Without a doubt, Samsung Galaxy A8s will be the company’s first smartphone to sport Infinity-O display and will start landing on shores before January 2019 ends. But there are numerous rumors that Samsung Galaxy S10 will also be backed by the same display.
What Else?
Though latest leaks don’t tell us a lot more about upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8s. However, based on past reports, it’ll be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Chipset – partnered with a whopping 6GB of RAM. The operating system is expected Android 9.0 Pie alongside new UI on top which will be optimized for the cutout display.
