Sonos Teases Google Assistant Integration on the Sonos Beam at CES 2019

At CES 2019, a plethora of announcements has already come out (as expected). And without a shadow of a doubt, it’s one of the most exciting yet, at least for me.

Back on Tuesday 8th of January 2019, Google at CES 2019 confirmed that we have finally brought the Google Assistant over to Sonos One and Sonos Beam. When will it be rolling out? An exact date has yet to be announced. However, it’s most likely that we have already reached the finish line.

All right! Don’t you have Sonos One and Sonos Beam at your home? No worries! Google says that “already speaker models” will also be updated with that Assistant support. We aren’t sure if all previous Sonos speakers will get that Assistant or just a select few.

What did Sonos Announce?

Quite a while back, Sonos first announced that it was working to add Google Assistant to its speakers when it officially revealed Sonos One back in October 2017. We have gone through 2018 month after month without any sign of an Assistant – it was looking like Sonos One would still meet its deadline with a push to make Google Assistant available during the holiday season.

A couple of months later, we met with an announcement in which Sonos was again pushing everything back to 2019.

What Else?

Seemingly, Sonos has had a long beta program and has been working with Google to get it completed and as such when it’s released worldwide, it’ll work even better as compared to Alexa – first did on Sonos when it was released.
