Google had always wanted to keep their all offerings separate from Android. It became quite clear when a way back, Google moved Android Pay to Google Pay. Remember that?
There are so many other subtle changes as well – for instance, Android Messages became Messages and Android Wear converted to Wear OS.
Moreover, earlier this year, during the Made by Google keynote – Google staff didn’t use a word “Android” even once.
We don’t know exactly why Google is no longer looking to use the term “Android” as much. Now, a new change is going to happen.
With a help of Android Messages, you can send SMS and MMS on your phone from a web – through a simple URL “Messages.android.com”.
Well, Google is likely to change to messages.google.com soon – according to changes in Chromium’s source code management system.
Frankly, it’s not yet clear when that change will come into effect, Google may temporarily use both URL’s to make a transition to messages.google.com smoother.
